What BCCI Said?

The BCCI official has confirmed that the Indian team has allocated a total of 60 jersey numbers to its current players. Even if a player is temporarily out of the team, the team ensures that it does not reassign his number to a new player.

At present, the regulars in the Indian team and those in contention have been designated around 60-odd numbers,” explained a BCCI official. “So even if a player is out of the team for about a year or so, we don’t give away his number to a new player. That means a recent debutant has just 30-odd numbers to choose from.”
