Google Meet Update: New Call Interface and Contact Suggestions for All Users

Google meet new update

Google Meet has rolled out a fresh call-screen interface that’s available for everyone—not just enterprise users. With a sleeker, pill-shaped search bar at the top and smart contact suggestions, joining or starting a call is quicker than ever. This update follows Google’s recent AI-powered feature that can automatically create meeting notes when the call wraps up.

What’s New in the Google Meet Update?

For Android users, the new call interface is here, featuring bigger buttons for creating or scheduling meetings, plus handy contact suggestions in a grid. These suggestions are based on who you interact with the most, like people you’ve starred or emailed recently. If you’re looking to join a meeting by entering a code, there’s also a new shortcut right on the home screen. Just tap “Code,” type it in, and you’re in!

This revamped interface is part of Google Meet’s version 266 update. While it’s up and running on Android, it hasn’t made its way to iOS just yet.

Google Meet has been keeping busy with updates. If you’re using a Pixel 9 Pro Fold, you can now use both the inner and outer cameras during video calls. It’s a cool feature for showing multiple angles, perfect for interactive presentations or just adding a little flair to your calls.

Then there’s the “Take notes for me” feature, available for certain Google Workspace users. With the help of AI, Google Meet can generate notes or even full transcriptions of your meetings. You can focus on the conversation, while Meet handles the note-taking.
