To address the challenges faced by MBBS students during COVID-19 pandemic, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced a relief. This decision specifically caters to students who were admitted to medical colleges during the academic year 2020-21 and encountered difficulties in passing their first professional MBBS examination. This is a sort of new year gift to MBBS 2020-21 batch students from NMC’s side.
The official notification on the NMC website, declares that the commission has decided to permit one additional attempt. It also mentions that the 5th attempt, to students falling under the aforementioned category. This proactive step acknowledges the unique circumstances that the 2020-21 batch had to contend with due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NMC recognizes that students of the 2020-21 batch faced several challenges and disruptions, which led to difficulties in clearing their first professional MBBS examination. Foreign Medical Graduates’ Requirement

These graduates, who returned to India and completed their coursework online, are required to fulfill a mandatory one-year clinical clerkship, as stipulated by the NMC.
