During a recent episode of India’s Got Latent, Ranveer Allahbadia asked a contestant a shocking and inappropriate question: “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” The remark left fellow judges—including Raina, comedian Ashish Chanchalani, and influencer Apoorva Makhija—completely stunned. The clip quickly went viral, sparking outrage on social media.

A formal complaint has been filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and the Maharashtra Women’s Commission, accusing Allahbadia and others of promoting offensive content. The complaint calls for strict legal action, saying such remarks cross the line of acceptable public content.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also weighed in, saying, “I have heard about this but haven’t seen it yet. Everyone has freedom of speech, but it shouldn’t come at the cost of others’ dignity. If rules are broken, action must be taken.”

Ranveer Allahbadia’s Apology

Facing massive backlash, Allahbadia posted a public apology video on his X handle on January 10. He admitted his comment was inappropriate and said, “Comedy isn’t really my thing. I just want to say sorry.”

He added, “I’m not going to justify what happened. I had a lapse in judgment, and it wasn’t cool on my part.” He assured his audience that he takes his responsibility as a content creator seriously and promised to be more mindful in the future.

He also revealed that he asked the show’s producers to remove the controversial segment. Wrapping up his apology, he said, “I’m truly sorry, and I hope you can forgive me.”
