Riya Barde, a name that’s recently grabbed attention for all the wrong reasons, is at the center of a controversial arrest in Ulhasnagar, Maharashtra. Known in the adult film industry by her aliases Aarohi Barde and Banna Sheikh, Riya has been accused of illegally staying in India and using forged documents to obtain an Indian passport. Her arrest has unearthed a tangled web of deceit involving not just her but also her family.
The story goes deeper than just her arrest. According to reports, Riya, originally from Bangladesh, had been living in India for quite some time with her mother and siblings. To make their stay appear legitimate, her mother, Ruby Sheikh (who also goes by the name Anjali Barde), married an Indian man from Amravati. This marriage provided a legal cover for the family’s presence in India, but it was all built on lies.

The police, after receiving a tip-off, uncovered that Riya Barde had used fake documents to obtain her passport, listing multiple places of birth in India, including West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas and Maharashtra’s Achalpur. This inconsistency raised red flags, sparking an investigation that soon uncovered a forgery racket in which Riya played a key role.
Previous Controversies of Riya Barde
Riya Barde isn’t new to controversy. She’s made a name for herself in the adult film industry, even working on projects linked to Raj Kundra. One of her more notable works includes the 2023 film Aamras. But her recent arrest has shifted the spotlight from her film career to her criminal record. It turns out this isn’t the first time she’s been in trouble with the law.
Riya was previously arrested in connection with a prostitution case under the Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act. Her involvement in illegal activities seems to have followed a pattern, leading the police to dig deeper into her past.
Interestingly, while Riya and her mother have been living in India, the police revealed that her parents are actually living in Qatar. The search is now on for her siblings, including her sister Ritu (also known as Moni Sheikh) and her brother Riyaz Sheikh. The family’s ties to multiple countries and their shifting identities only add layers to the already complicated case.
What’s also intriguing is how the whole situation came to light. Riya’s friend, Prashant Mishra, reportedly discovered her Bangladeshi origin and lodged a complaint, which led to the police investigating her background. This complaint was the first crack in the façade Riya and her family had built, ultimately leading to her arrest.

The police have filed charges under several sections of the IPC, including cheating and forgery, and their investigation is still ongoing. It’s likely more details will surface as they dig deeper into her illegal stay in India and possible other criminal activities. What started as the arrest of a Bangladeshi national has turned into a much larger story about fake identities, international ties, and a family that’s been living on the wrong side of the law for years.
