The man behind India's Green revolution M.S. Swaminathan passed away.

Swaminathan was 98 at the time of his death at his Chennai home.

He was widely regarded as the ‘father of the Green Revolution’.

He was the recipient of the Padma Vibhushan and the World Food Prize.

Swaminathan served as a secretary of the Union department of agricultural research during 1972 to 1979.

He introduced high-yielding dwarf wheat varieties that doubled India’s wheat production.

His contribution solved the food shortage problem of India in the 1960s.

He was an inspiration to millions. We salute you ‘Shri Mankombu Sambasivan Swaminathan’.
